Extract creates one PDF with the pages you select. Split creates a PDF for every page of the original. Choose based on what you want to download.
Only need part of the document?
Choose Extract. If a document has ten pages and you only need the first three, enter 1-3 in the page field. To combine a range with a single page, enter 1-3, 5. You will download one PDF with that selection.
Need a separate file for every page?
Choose Split. The tool separates every page and offers individual PDF downloads. Below them, you can download all the files in a ZIP. A ZIP is a package of PDF files, not one PDF with all the pages together.
How to use Extract
- Open Extract and choose the original PDF.
- Enter the pages you want to keep, such as 1-3, 5.
- Click Extract pages and download the new PDF.
- Open the copy and check that it contains the pages you need.
Extracting pages does not remove sensitive content
Extract selects pages. It does not crop their edges or hide text. If a selected page contains personal data, that data remains in the copy. TotPDF is not a tool for redacting confidential content.
Keep the original
Work with copies and review the result before sharing it. The initial version does not support encrypted PDFs, and Split has a maximum of 500 pages per file. Device memory can also limit large documents.
