How does it work?
You choose a file in the tool and your browser processes it on your device. The result is created right there and you can download it. No account needed.
Is my PDF uploaded anywhere?
No. Your browser loads TotPDF’s code, but your files go nowhere. You can check it yourself at Check it yourself.
Do you keep logs or cookies?
No. TotPDF keeps no access or error logs of its own, and uses no cookies. The details are on the privacy page.
Why does OCR need a connection?
OCR (PDF to text) downloads its language data from totpdf.com each time you use it, so it needs the internet. Your PDF is not uploaded. The other tools need nothing more once the page has loaded.
Which browsers work?
Modern desktop and mobile browsers. We run automated tests with the Chrome, Firefox and Safari (WebKit) engines. If a tool fails on your device, email me.
What is the size limit?
There is no daily limit or per-document quota. To avoid freezes, each file can be up to 150 MB, and up to 500 pages are processed per batch. Your device’s memory can set lower limits, especially on a phone.
Will the result match the original?
Always check the result before you use it. When you compress, images lose detail depending on the level you pick. If the original file had a digital signature, the new copy no longer keeps it.
My PDF has a password
Open it first with Unlock PDF, if you know the password.
What does the Chrome extension do?
The TotPDF Chrome extension only has the activeTab permission: when you click it on a tab showing a PDF, it passes that PDF to the tool you choose. It sends no files or data to any server.
How do I contact you?
By email: siddharta.navarro@gmail.com. Tell me which tool you used, the browser, the device and roughly how big the PDF was. Please don’t attach private documents; a description is enough. Replies can take a few days.
