Common questions
Step-by-step instructions
Choose a protected PDF. If it only has restrictions (it won’t let you print, copy or edit) but opens without a password, leave the field empty. If it asks for a password to open, type it in: the owner password works too. You get a copy with no encryption and no restrictions.
When to use it
Use it when a bank statement, payslip or government document won’t let you print, copy text or merge it with other PDFs. Or to remove the password from your own document before archiving it. You can then use the copy in the other tools.
Before you start
Only use documents you have permission to modify. If opening the PDF requires a password, you must know it: the tool cannot guess it. If it only restricts printing or copying, try leaving the field empty.
Are my PDFs uploaded anywhere?
No. PDFs are processed on your device. We do not receive or store your files or their names. The server receives normal requests to load the website and may log connection data, such as your IP address. This version has no analytics, advertising or trackers.
Is it free? Is there a daily limit?
Yes. There is no daily limit, per-document quota or paid plan. Run successive batches as needed. Safety limits are 150 MB per file, 500 pages for rendering and 25 million pixels per page. Available memory may impose lower limits.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes, in modern browsers. A computer often has more memory for large documents. Keep the tab open during processing and check the PDF before sending it.
It opens without a password but will not print. What should I do?
If you have permission to modify it, leave the password blank and try Unlock. A PDF can restrict printing or copying without requiring a password to open.
Can I recover a forgotten password?
No. If the document requires a password to open, you must know it. Ask the sender or find an unprotected original copy.
