Before you start
- Every page is scaled to fit its half or quarter of the sheet, keeping its proportions.
- Text comes out smaller: with 4 per sheet, make sure the original lettering is large enough.
- Up to 200 pages at a time.
- Links, form fields and bookmarks are not kept.
What it doesn’t do
- It doesn’t trim page margins: if the PDF has wide margins, the text comes out even smaller. Run it through Crop PDF first.
- It doesn’t reorder pages: they stay in the original order, left to right and top to bottom.
- It doesn’t make booklets for binding: the order is reading order, not folded-leaflet order.
Common questions
How are the pages laid out?
With 2 per sheet, the sheet comes out landscape with two pages side by side. With 4, the sheet comes out portrait in a two by two grid. Pages keep the document order, left to right and top to bottom.
When is it useful
To print notes or drafts using half or a quarter of the paper, or to skim a long document at a glance. If the text comes out small, choose 2 per sheet.
Is the file uploaded?
No. The PDF is recomposed on your device. We never receive or store the file or its name. The server only gets the normal requests to load the website.
Can the text still be selected?
Content stays vector and crisp, but the document is recomposed: links, forms and bookmarks are not kept. Reading quality is not lost.
What if the PDF has very wide margins?
Each page is placed whole, margins included, and the content comes out small. To make the most of the sheet, run the PDF through the Crop PDF tool first and come back.
