How to merge PDFs without uploading them anywhere

20 Oct 2026 · 2 min read

You can join several PDFs into one without uploading them to any server: your browser does the work on your device. Pick the files, arrange them with the arrow buttons and download the result in a minute.

Why merge in the browser

Most online tools ask you to upload your files: the document travels to a server, gets processed there and you download the result. TotPDF works the other way round: the program loads in your browser and the PDFs never leave your computer or phone. Neither the contents nor the file names reach a server.

Step by step

  1. Open the Merge PDF tool on TotPDF.
  2. Choose two or more PDFs from your device.
  3. Arrange them with the arrow buttons: the final document follows the top-to-bottom order.
  4. Press the merge button and save the new PDF.
  5. Open it and check that every page is there, in the right order, before sending it.

What's kept and what isn't

Pages are copied without being turned into images, so text normally stays selectable and searchable. Your original files aren't changed. Interactive forms, bookmarks and links between documents can be lost, though, and a digital signature stops being valid once a PDF changes. The tool can't repair damaged files either.

When it comes in handy

Gather the month's invoices into a single document, join your notes for one course or put your CV and covering letter in the same PDF. And if the result is too heavy to email, run it through the Compress PDF tool afterwards: merging doesn't shrink anything, and the final file can end up slightly larger than the originals put together.
