Split the image across A4 sheets with overlap, print them at 100% and glue them following the numbers. A 40 × 60 cm poster takes 9 sheets.
Pick a large enough image
For 40 × 60 cm look for several million pixels. A current phone photo usually works; a small web image will show squares.
Steps
- Choose the image and enter the width in cm, the height is worked out.
- Check the preview: rows, columns and sheets.
- Download the PDF and print at 100%, "Actual size" on and "Fit to page" off.
- Trim the white margins on touching sheets and glue along the overlap, top to bottom.
Check the scale
Every sheet has a 50 mm line. Measure it before gluing; if it is not 50 mm, the printer is scaling the page. You can also print the calibration sheet.
How many sheets you need
10 × 15 cm: 1. A3 (29.7 × 42 cm): 4. 40 × 60 cm: 9. 60 × 90 cm: 16.
